What is CeltaStars?

CeltaStars is the support group for all those taking their CELTA course at IH Barcelona, and provides help on a wide variety of things before, during and after your course.

We have questions and answers on such things as Barcelona itself, finding work, how to go about obtaining the social security and other papers you need to work in Spain, as well as on issues relating directly to teaching, for example on teaching young learners.

We also, very importantly, use CeltaStars to channel jobs vacancies to you.

What is on CeltaStars?

Apart from the jobs ads, on the CeltaStars web site (available only to members), there is a large searchable bank of previously asked questions as well as resources and useful links.

A community of Stars

CeltaStars is a community of over 800 people who share common interests - in Barcelona, in the course, in becoming teachers and in becoming better teachers.

It is also a community of people who are acquiring knowledge of those things - and we like to encourage the members of our community to share the knowledge they acquire.

All of the members of CeltaStars began in Barcelona -- but they then go on to teach English all over the world. Members ask questions of all kinds and, if appropriate, we turn to an expert (often, but not always, a course tutor) for an answer; sometimes, however, answers come from the members of the community themselves: you have become the experts.

How do you join?

You can only become a member of CeltaStars once you have completed your application form and been accepted for a place on the course at IH Barcelona. We then send you details of how to join.

Why are we called CeltaStars?

The name was originally suggested half-jokingly: after the course we would go off and (excuse the corn) "shine" round the world.

But it stuck...
